1. South Korea
On 15 August 1945, South Korea gained independence from the rule of Japan. This day is celebrated as ‘National Liberation Day’ there. This day is very special for the Korean people, because they got freedom after many years of slavery. On this day, government offices are closed and programs are organized all over the country.
Like South Korea, North Korea was also free from the occupation of Japan on 15 August. Although later the two countries were divided and they walked on different paths, but even today, on August 15, there is a holiday in North Korea and the festival of freedom is celebrated there.
Bahrain gained independence from Britain on 15 August 1971. Although the National Day is celebrated in December there, the day of August 15 also reminds of the freedom there. On this day Bahrain started a new chapter and emerged as an independent country.
4. Liechtensstein
On August 15, in the year 1866, Lichenstein declared himself free from the influence of Germany. It is a small country in Europe, but it is very conscious about its freedom. The special thing is that on August 15, the national festival and the birthday of the royal family are celebrated together.
5. Democratic Republic of the CONGO
This country of Africa was liberated from France on 15 August 1960. It was then called French Congo. After independence, it adopted a new name and became a democratic country. This day matters a lot to the people of Kongo and it is celebrated on a large scale every year.
