What is rainwater harvesting?
Rainwater harvesting means depositing rainwater instead of allowing it to flow and use it in times of need. It is often seen that when it rains, water flows from roofs and open courtyards and goes into drains. If we collect this water properly, then it can be useful in increasing our gardens, trees and plants and even ground water level.
This reduces the cost of irrigation of your garden. There is moisture in the soil so that the plants remain healthy. The ground water level increases which is very useful in the coming time. The flowers and vegetables in the garden get natural water which is very beneficial for them. The rain water is clean and soft, so that there is no chemicals in the soil.
Collect water from the roof: Storage water in a tank through a pipe from the roof of your house. For this, install a good gutter system on the roof which puts the rain water directly into the pipe. Through pipe, this water will collect in a clean tank or large drum.
Arrange overflow: If the rain is too much, then install an additional pipe for overflow from the tank so that the excess water is absorbed into the ground. This will not explode your tank and water will not be wasted.

If you do not have a place to install a tank, then you can also keep big pots or plastic drums. Water can also be stored by cleaning old tin or plastic boxes. You can also make small pits of soil where water will accumulate and gradually merge into the ground.
Take special care of these things
Always keep the tank or drum covered so that mosquitoes do not flourish in it.
From time to time, empty the tank and keep clean.
Use water only for the garden so that there is no health problem.
